Hallam Land, part of Henry Boot, has secured planning permission for 290 homes in Sittingbourne, Kent.
The scheme was approved on appeal after initially being rejected by Swale Borough Council. Hallam Land signed a promotion agreement on the site near Sittingbourne in 2017 and first submitted a planning application in November 2022.
The project will include a 30% affordable housing, with plans also including landscaping, habitat creation, and publicly accessible green infrastructure. The company said it calculated that the scheme will have a biodiversity net gain of over a 100% for surrounding habitats.
Tim Roberts, CEO of Henry Boot, said: “Securing planning permission on appeal for hundreds of homes in Kent will enable the delivery of much needed housing in the area.”
Hallam Land said it had identified another 8,500 plots suitable for planning applications in the near future, in light of recent revisions to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) that provided a “much clearer direction to local authorities in terms of housing delivery”.
Construction dates and costs for the scheme have not yet been disclosed.
